Fun day at California Adventure

We met up with a few other families to enjoy a day at California Adventure.

Some of the highlights of our day…

Megan got to meet Minnie Mouse within 30 minutes of arriving into the park! I was definitely more excited than Megan but she did smile for a picture with Minnie.



We had fun taking pictures of the girls at the big Sun Fountain at the park’s entrance as we waited for some more of the group to arrive.



Once most of our group had arrived we headed over to the Redwood Creek Challenge and explored. We climbed the rope trail and Megan surprised us with how adept she was at navigating those big holes with her little feet. It was quite a warm day and at one point our entire group huddled inside a tunnel to escape from the hot sunshine for a spell. It was a good thing no one else wanted to traipse through the tunnel as we sort of took over the entire tunnel.



After that we decided it was time to have lunch and then head for the watering holes – no not for adult drinks but to cool down our very hot kids. Megan was very hesitant at first but finally had fun putting her hands in the water and running around.



From there we headed over to take in an animated chat with Crush from Finding Nemo. Having not seen Finding Nemo yet she wasn’t familiar with the character Crush so he was a little overpowering to her but she did okay. Our next visit to the parks in the fall will be a much different experience!



Our most exciting ride of the day was Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train (hold onto your hats folks this is one wild ride – NOT!) What else is there to say but we rode the ride.



Afterwards the 3 of us split apart from the group to go ride Flik’s Flyers. I really wanted to get the Chinese takeout flyer just for the fun of it and we got lucky and were able to get one. We encouraged Megan to raise her hands as we went round and round and she had fun with that although with much caution.



As the day was winding down, we decided to head over to King Triton’s Carousel. I love the pictures we got both while waiting in line and playing in the fountains as well as riding on the carousel (or merry-go-round as Megan calls it).





Our last ride of the day was the big Sun Ferriswheel – Alan’s favorite ride (hahaha). Our wait was quite long as we wanted the stationery cars versus the sliding ones. I was glad when we finally got off as Megan was needing a nap at that point in a bad way and clearly wasn’t going to give in and miss out on any of the fun.

We took our group photo and then said our goodbyes till the next time.



Our next stop before heading home was Mimi and Papa’s. Megan took about a 45 minute nap and lo and behold was raring to go for another several hours while we were exhausted from the long day.
