Recap of Sunday in Guangzhou
We landed on the ground in Guangzhou around 6:00am and proceeded to make our way through passport check and then on to baggage claim. Once we collected our bags, we were greeted by the wonderful China Team (CT) - for those soon to follow us, the China Team is fabulous! We boarded a very nice and comfy bus to take us to our hotel to relax and get settled into our rooms. Our home away from home is quite comfortable. The CT took us out to a wonderful Dim Sum brunch and we enjoyed meeting all the families of our travel group. After our brunch we headed off to the Friendship Store, a department store with an international focus. We of course headed to the 6th floor to go see all the children’s items and to also do a little grocery shopping. Many of the families that are also staying the full 2 weeks in Guangzhou purchased strollers for their children – we’ve decided to wait and see if we’ll need or want one. The CT then took us back to the hotel to relax and try to overcome jetlag. Dinner was on our own – so off we went in search of some food. At this point I (Mandy) am feeling like a simple meal is in order – nothing too exotic. On our way to the lobby we ran across another Yangxi baby family (Collin and Danna) who arrived a couple days earlier and they gave us a couple of recommendations on places they’ve tried out so far. We decided to try out a Chinese restaurant in our hotel. Alan had a fabulous braised pork with wild mushrooms and I had a wonton noodle soup. Afterwards we decided to kill some more time and went over to Starbucks, we’ll be visiting more often I think- very yummy and just like home. We walked around the hotel shops for a little bit before heading up to our room to upload some pictures (you can click here to see our trip pictures) and also to prepare the diaper bag. By this point I (Mandy) was so tired my eyes could hardly focus. We crashed around 7:45pm – not bad!
